Disclaimer: This was written shortly after Noche de Talentos which took place in early November. So, videos wouldn't upload, that's why I was waiting to post. Then I forgot about the post...so with no videos, just links here's the post!
Dear Amigos and Amigas,
Dear Amigos and Amigas,
1. There are only, ONLY 6 weeks left until the boys leave.....and I have to say goodbye to them :( People ask me how I'm feeling and I immediately start to tear up, so please don't ask.
2. I have my flight home arranged to MN! I come in on the 6th of February. Please don't fight too much about who is the lucky one to pick me up midday at the airport. I know you all want to ;)
3. I hope you are all well and are enjoying immensely the first snows of winter while I am enjoying spring and more sun every single day!
4. Now to the rest of the blog post:
So much has been happening here recently, and the biggest is that we just wrapped up Noche de Talentos! If you remember last year, it was the first year and Cap Coprs volunteers were the organizers. Once again this year we organized the event, made a few adjustments and what not and it turned out to be a huge success!
Highlights include:
The boys from my music class presenting 'Stick Schtick' albeit a very modified and cut down version, but they did great! They won first prize in the music category, I was one proud teacher! The video is below.

Another highlight was my boys that I work with daily, from San Antonio, danced to a mash-up of Justin Bieber and Black Eyed Peas, 'Somebody to rock that body.' Perfect? no, but they finished well and the won third in the dance category! I was proud, especially considering that I was teaching them and I am no dancer myself, and less so a hip hop dancer. Thanks to Tanya (an English volunteer who was here) that first taught me tutting and to youtube for making it easy to find tutorials on how to dance to Justin Bieber. This is the link.

Another hightlight, I hope, was that Ryan and I took on the huge task of being the Emcee's for the night. We wanted to do some fun stuff and not just talk and present so we came up with a couple of skits. My favorite one, and I believe the boys enjoyed it, was when we dressed up like 'hoodies' in English terms, hipsters I guess you would call it and spoke pure jerga (slang) to introduce the dancers that were up next. We had fun asking one of the pre-tutores to write it (gracias Eduardo!), practicing it and then getting majorly into character while performing. I'm uploading the video knowing full well most people won't understand because I still have to clarify what I said with Eduardo still! I think you'll get the gist anyways. (video won't upload, so here's a picture)

It was a huge success to say the least and loads of fun!
